Just as we make progress on global social and economic stability, COVID-19 emerges… threatening to destroy those hard-fought gains, damper hope and stymie years of progress. Unless we are diligent, thoughtful and innovative, the COVID-19 pandemic could negatively impact us for years.
It is humankind’s duty to make sure we limit the damages this virus seeks to inflict on our bodies, lives and spirit.
At GADC, we work hard to improve our economy by assisting and collaborating with business and industry – along with our county and statewide partners to add better jobs, tax-producing capital investment and creating a brighter future for our community. Each day, our GADC team GADC asks ourselves: “What else can I do to position Greenville County to win?”
I think that slogan has real applicability in this battle. What can we EACH do to win this battle against the coronavirus? Ironically, for most of us the best way to win the war may be to stay home to avoid spreading the virus.
We are truly blessed to have healthcare professionals, scientists and disease strategists who dedicate their careers and lives to protecting us and helping fight these outbreaks. I encourage you to review and comply with their guidelines, as posted by the CDC and SC DHEC. We owe it to ourselves and to each other.
Both now and later, GADC is committed to be an important resource for existing industry and partners as we rebuild our economy. Federal and state programs are poised to offer aid to business and industry during the recovery period, and we will publish helpful resource links and information on our website as opportunities develop.
Right now, the federal government is seeking information on local companies with capacity and ability to provide critically needed personal protection equipment and select medical devices for immediate distribution. If you or an organization you know can help in this fight, please contact us.
For now, please remain vigilant. Follow the rules. Persevere. Help others.
Better days are ahead for Greenville, with an even-brighter future.
